murals

Arlo's been enjoying painting and drawing on paper since before he turned two- but now he's turned two and a half he's decided the walls are much more impressive once adorned with his creations.

Tom and I were having a discussion in the kitchen yesterday which was lasting for a remarkably long time without interruption. When I went into Arlo's room to see what he was up to, I found this:

It was difficult to get a photo of the entire artwork, because it reached around two whole walls, and he had even used a chair to gain height. But this was my favourite bit ('It's me, swimming', he said.) It's going to be really difficult to clean the felt-tipped pen off the white paint (of our rented home) but it was difficult for me to get properly mad at him, because I really liked the drawing (and the scale of it, secretly!) So tomorrow I'll get him to help me scrub the walls, and hopefully that will work as a disincentive!

Oh Arlo!
I must admit I too LOVE the drawing ( and I can imagine I'd like the scale of it too) But I bet your landlord wouldn't!
I always wanted to own a house so that I could allow my children to decorate their own walls. But alas, that dream is far, far, far away!
